Where it all started
St Ninian's Church was built in 1913 on land purchased by the trustees of the will of Sir Henry Bloom Noble.
It was then consecrated on 25th March 1914.
The church was (and is) under the patronage of CPAS - an organisation dedicated to enabling churches to remain focused on teaching from the Scriptures and sharing personal faith in Jesus. There is a link to their site here.
The architect was a Londoner (William Douglas Caroe) but the church was built by Richard Costain and Sons - a company founded in the Isle of Man. The photograph below is a postcard very shortly after the church was built.
The Renovations in 2005-6
Under Rev Brian Derbyshire, in 2005-6 the church hall and land was sold off, extra fund-raising was done, and the church interior had a major renovation into the beautiful and usable space we have now.
We owe a lot to the faith, hard-work, prayer and generosity of those in the church at that time. Here is a short record of those transformative days.
