Your Wedding

We recognize that the wedding day is a unique day that marks a tremendous step in two people’s ongoing love, whether you are just dreaming of a church wedding, or whether the planning is well underway.

You are welcome to marry in Saint Ninian’s Church, and we welcome you!

Saint Ninian’s Church can offer a sense of history. It may be that members of your family have been married at the church in the past and so you will become part of that family history by choosing it as your wedding venue. Those family connections can enhance and make your day even more special.

We would like to make your wedding personal and memorable for you.

Saint Ninian’s is a special place and there are some things about a church wedding that you just can’t get anywhere else. A church wedding adds a spiritual dimension to your special day and your future shared life. The church service includes God and asks for his help, guidance and blessing. The church will help you grow in your commitment and will pray for and support you in the keeping of your wedding vows.

Preparing for your wedding

Even if you have already been living together for some time, you are still two separate individuals with different backgrounds, personalities, experiences, hopes and fears. You’ll never make such big promises to each other as the day on which you make your wedding vows.

This is your special day. The marriage service has a clear structure but, within that structure, you have many choices to make about your hymns and music, reading and prayers.

And so the first step contact the Vicar or Curate of the church who will be able to advise you so that, with their help, you’ll be able to make choices with which you are all happy.

In the meantime, have a look at the Church of England’s information-packed wedding pages.

Manx Church Law is different, so if you are checking any legal aspects, look at the guide (download) and the Church Weddings in the Isle of Man.

We believe that marriage is a gift from God and that a good marriage is healthy, freeing and life giving to the partners. This is an adventure upon which you are embarking and Saint Ninian’s Church wants to support you in your adventure. May God bless and guide you both as you make plans for your wedding.
